As if releasing an amazing multi-album catalogue and creating a whole new genre in the process wasn't already enough, this year the Argentine ambient-folk singer-songwriter Juana Molina has come out with what − in my opinion − is hands-down the best new album of 2014: Wed 21.
Not only is Wed 21 packed with absolutely infectious rhythms and superbly hypnotic guitar textures, but throughout it all Molina's voice and melodies are consistently original, beautiful, catchy, and exhibit an awesome passionate intensity.
Although I love all of her albums, I really believe she has raised the bar with this one. It is as if she took the tranquil ambient folk she is so well-known for and injected it with a wholly unexpected volt of energy.
I highly recommend it!
